Paid Groups

The new feature inside Communities, Paid Groups, introduces the capability to monetize both Public and Private Communities on the platform. Admins and owners can now charge their users to access the content and features of the Community group.

Private and Public Groups

From the "Settings" button within a Community, admins and owners can choose whether they want to set up their group as Public or Private.



One-Time Payment

The One-time payment type will give members unlimited access to the group after the payment is processed, and once they have group access ( you would need to approve their request to join the group if it is a private group ). To set up a one-time payment, follow the below steps:

  • Log into the Community
  • Go to Settings > Subscriptions


  • Click on "Add New Price"


  • Specify the Price and Currency.
  • Set the "Subscription Type" as One Time


    • Note: to test a payment, turn on the Test Mode


  • Click the "Add Price" button.


  • Click "Save" to create the paid group with One-time Payment

  • Once saved, the group description will reflect the same information to members who want to join



Recurring Subscription

The recurring subscription type will give members limited access to the group after the payment is processed, and once they have group access ( you would need to approve their request to join the group if it is a private group ). To set up a recurring subscription, follow the steps below:


  • Log into the Community
  • Go to Settings > Subscriptions


  • Click on "Add New Price"


  • Specify the Price and Currency.
  • Set the "Subscription Type" as Recurring,
  • [ Optional ] Set the number of Trial Days  ( if any ),
  • Set the Billing Period as Weekly, Monthly, or Annually.


    • Note: to test a payment, turn on the Test Mode


  • Click the "Add Price" button.


  • Click "Save" to create the paid group with One-time Payment


  • Once saved, the group description will reflect the same information to members who want to join.

Group Access

How to grant the new member access to the group after receiving the payment:  

  • Private Group: Once the payment is made, admins and owners can follow the steps in this support article to add members to the group: How to Approve a Request to Join Your Community Group
  • Public Groups: Once the payment is made, the user signs up, and becomes a active member of the group right away.


Notifications

  • All admins and owners receive email notifications about a payment made by a member, with all the details to access the group, and subsequently to approve their membership request, if it's a Private group. If it's a Public group, the person will automatically be approved, and be added to the group.

  • Similarly, the member will also receive a payment confirmation with all the details about their payment .


  • Private Group: Once their membership is approved by an admin or owner. They are notified about their membership and access to the group



Cancellations and Refunds

  • What happens when you cancels a member's subscription from the Payments section of your FG Funnels account?
    • When you cancel a member's subscription from the from the Payments section of your FG Funnels account, several actions are initiated:
      • The member will receive a cancellation confirmation email.
      • Admins and Owners of the group associated with the subscription will receive a cancellation received email.
      • The user will be automatically removed from the group.

  • What happens when a members cancels their subscription from the Stripe screen?
    • When a user cancels their subscription from the Stripe screen, several actions are initiated:

      - The user will receive a cancellation confirmation email.

      - Admins and Owners of the group associated with the subscription will receive a cancellation received email.

      - The user will be automatically removed from the group.



  • How can members be refundedfor their payments?
    • Refunds can be processed directly through your FG Funnels account or your Stripe account.

    1. How to Process the Refund Through FG Funnels: Refunds can be issued by going to Payments > Transactions > Click the "three dots" icon on the right side of their transaction line item > click "Refund"
    2. Stripe: Refunds can also be issued from Stripe via the contact details screen. Here is Stripe's support article: https://docs.stripe.com/refunds


  • If a user's contact card is deleted and later restored, will the user need to make the payment again?
    • When a user's contact card is accidentally deleted and then restored, the user should be reinstated in the Group without being required to make the payment again.
