Setting Up Mailgun Account

Objective

The objective of this SOP is to guide you through the process of setting up a Mailgun account to ensure smooth email communication and marketing operations.


Key Steps

  1. Sign Up:
    • Go to mailgun.com and click on the "Get Started" button.
    • Fill out the required information.

    • Choose the Foundation 50k plan for better email receiving capabilities.


  2. Dashboard Setup:
    • After signing up, access your dashboard.

    • Update your domain on the right-hand side.


  3. Add Domain:
    • Navigate to the "Sending" section in your dashboard.
    • Click on "Domains" and add your domain.

    • Verify your email and ensure payment for uninterrupted service.


  4. Add DNS Records:
    • Add five records to your domain, following the instructions provided by Mailgun.

    • Include SPF, MX, and CNAME records for proper email routing.


  5. Additional Settings:
    • Enable Click Tracking and Open Tracking in your domain settings.

    • Consider turning on Two-Factor Authentication for added security.


  6. API Key:

    • In your Mailgun account, you can create a new Mailgun API key by following these steps:

      1) Go to the top-right corner of the page > Click the Profile drop-down menu to expand its list of options

      2) Click the "API Security" option

      3) Click "Add New Key" (image below)

      4) After you create the new API key, copy it, and paste it into an email to support@fgfunnels.com


      NOTE: Ensure that you approve any verification emails that are sent to your inbox as the app attempts to integrate with your email platform. If you are receiving an error message, this is often the cause.

  7. DMARC Record:

    • Add a DMARC record for your subdomain to enhance email security and authentication.


  8. User Creation:
    • Create a user with an email address associated with your domain for better inbox deliverability.

Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure email verification and payment to avoid service disruptions.
  • Follow the instructions carefully while adding DNS records to prevent email delivery issues.
  • Exercise caution when enabling features like Click Tracking and Open Tracking to avoid unwanted consequences.
