My Membership Emails Have Blank Username Or Password Fields

You've got your membership workflow setup just as we taught in one of our videos, but you tested it for the first time and the username and/or password fields were blank. The good news is about 99% of the time, it's one of two things:
 
Did you use the “Test Workflow” button, or did you submit your info through the funnel itself?
  • If you used the “Test Workflow” button, it won’t show anything in the values since no membership offer is granted to an actual contact for it to pull data in from. You want to go to the funnel itself and submit the form with your test data so the offer is granted to the contact that is created.

If you did run through the funnel itself, was it a new contact/email address, or one you have previously tested a membership offer with?

  • If a contact has already been granted access to a membership offer in your account, those fields will fire blank because they only fill for brand new signups. (Even with "Allow Multiple" turned on in the workflow's settings - the New Membership Signup trigger only fires once per contact.)


  • We recommend including language in the email that lets them know “if you already have a course from us, the username and password fields will be blank. You can log in using the same username and password you use to log in to our other courses. If you need any help logging in, use the Forgot Password link on the login page or send us an email to ____”.
