How to Change the Owner of a Community Group

This article goes over how to transfer ownership of a community group from the current owner ( you ) to another team member or client.


  1. Copy the email address of the individual who will be the new owner of the community group [ This must be the email address that they currently use to login to the community group ].
  2. Navigate to Memberships > Communities.
  3. Locate the community group you wish to transfer ownership of.
  4. Look for the pencil icon next to your name; if you are the current owner, you will see it.

  1. Click on the pencil icon
  2. In the search field of the pop up window paste in the email address of the new owner.

  1. Review the pop-up confirmation and click the checkbox to confirm.

  1. Click "Transfer Ownership" to complete the transfer.

  1. A pop-up will confirm that ownership has been successfully transferred to the new owner.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure that the correct email address of the new owner is pasted to avoid transferring ownership to the wrong individual.
  • Communicate with the new owner beforehand to inform them of the ownership transfer and any related responsibilities.
  • Once you transfer owner ship of the group, you will remain in the community group as an "Admin."
