How to Disable New Contact Creation Based on Instagram and Facebook DMs

Important Note: If you disable this feature, then you will not be able to use the "Comment via DM" action, or any other DM related workflow actions and triggers in your workflow automations.


How to Disable New Contact Record Creation Feature for Instagram and Facebook


  1. Access Settings
    • Go to the bottom left corner and click on "Settings."
    • Scroll down to "Integrations" and select it from the left side menu.
    • Locate Facebook and Instagram Integration on this page.
      • If you haven't enabled the feature in the lab section, your screen will look different from the video above.

      • You can go to "Labs" on the left side menu, and toggle on the "Connect Multiple Facebook and Instagram Pages" feature.

        Disable the Feature

    • In the integrations section, click on "Settings".
    • You will be on the "Facebook Messenger" tab by default. Toggle OFF the "Enable Facebook Messenger for all account(s)" setting and click "Connect."
    • Click on settings again, then select Instagram Messenger and toggle OFF "Sync Instagram DM messages for all account(s)" for Instagram.
      • Note: Disable these features separately as trying to do both at once will not work.

    • Delete Existing Contacts That Were Already Created Based on a DM Being Received
      • Go to contacts, click on "More Filters," and select "Email."
      • Choose "Email is empty" to filter contacts without email addresses.
      • Select all contact records and delete them using the trashcan icon.
      • If there are more than 20 contacts, use the "Select all" link to delete them all at once.
      • After selecting all contacts, click on "Delete Contacts."
      • Enter "DELETE" to confirm and click the delete button.
