How To Add A Blog Search and Category Navigation
This article specifically explains how to add these features to your main blog site under the blog menu item in Sites. If you are looking for more information on the blog posts and category navigation elements in the funnel and website builder, this can be found in the article, Blog Elements in Funnel and Website Builder.
Adding Category Navigation and Search
Navigate to Sites from the left hand menu and then Blogs from the top menu once you are in Sites.
- Select the name of the Blog Site that you want to add the category navigation to.
When you see the list of posts, you will see a button labeled "Edit Blog Site" on the right side above the list. Click the Edit Blog Site Button.
- Once the builder opens for the blog site, click on the plus sign on the left side of the middle toolbar to add Elements. Under Blog, there will be a Category Navigation option.
Click the Category Navigation element and drag and drop it to the desired place on the page.
Once you have added the Category Navigation element, you will be able to add more categories in the navigation and edit the existing ones. For example, you can click on Category 1 from the right hand options panel to edit the category name and select the correct category from your blog to link to that menu item. Follow these steps with each category.
(Please note that your blog site in the builder will show sample posts that are NOT yours. This is expected behavior and your posts will show on the live site. The sample posts may or may not match the screenshots below or video above but the options panel will match the screenshots and video).
- Under the Navigation List, there will be a toggle that says "Include Search Bar" which you toggle on and off to show and hide the search bar as you wish.
- Underneath those options will be additional styling options for the category navigation menu including font, color and spacing options.
