How to Add a From Name and Email Address for Your Email Header with LC Email
This is for anyone using LC Email. This article will go over how to add a "Dedicated Header" so you can set the "From Name" and "From Email" address that will show in the header of emails sent from your FG Funnels account, if the DMARC alignment fails.
The "Dedicated Header" will only be applied to emails sent through your FG Funnels account when DMARC alignment fails, for the initial email you sent. DMARC alignment fails when your sending subdomain and your Sender/From email address do not end in the same domain.
- Go to the "Settings" in the bottom left-hand corner of your FG Funnels account.
- Click on "Email Services" on the left side menu.
- If you have not set up a dedicated sending subdomain, follow the instructions in the messaging wizard here.
- If you have set up a dedicated sending subdomain, then click on the "Dedicated Domain and IP" button.
- Copy your sending subdomain.
- Click on the three dots on your dedicated domain and choose "Set Headers" from the dropdown menu.
- Paste your sending subdomain in the "From Email Address" field.
Please Note: Your sending subdomain and your sender email address need to match in order to achieve the best email deliverability. We recommend using a business email address in this field.
Example:
- If the Sender Subdomain = replies.YourBusinessName.com
- Recommend Sender / From Email Address = X@replies.YourBusinessName.com [ X can be anything such as:
- support@replies.YourBusinessName.com
- info@replies.YourBusinessName.com
- hello@replies.YourBusinessName.com
YourName@replies.YourBusinessName.com
- OR -
- Sender / From Email Address Can Be = X@YourBusinessName.com [ X can be anything such as:
- support@YourBusinessName.com
- info@YourBusinessName.com
- hello@YourBusinessName.com
- YourName@YourBusinessName.com
8. Enter your desired "From Name" ( usually your business name - or - just your name ) which will show in the email header, for all of the emails you send from your FG Funnels account when DMARC alignment fails.
- Click "Save" to set the dedicated header.
Important Note: Double-check the "From Name" and "From Email Address" for accuracy before saving. Having a typo in your "From Email Address" can cause some of the emails you send to bounce. This could happen with email recipients who have an email address ending in yahoo.com or aol.com, since these email servers send a unique error message to our system, which causes the email to bounce, which will enable DND on the contact record. This only happens if your "From Email Address" contains a typo.
FAQ
1) How is this different from how it used to work?
Previously, the Dedicated Header (From Name and From Email) was always used as the primary identity ( default header ) when sending emails through a dedicated domain. So, it used to override the "From Name" and "From Email" that you may have set directly within an email campaign or a workflow email action.
With this update, our developers have changed how and when this "Dedicated Header" is applied. Changes introduced:
1. Fallback Header Activation Only on DMARC Failure - The dedicated header will now only apply when DMARC alignment fails (based on SPF/DKIM logic).
2. Fallback Triggered When No Custom Header is Provided - If users do not specify a custom "From Name" or "From Email", and DMARC fails, the system will automatically apply the fallback header.
