Top 10 Things You Could Do to Decrease Your Chances of Receiving Spam Complaints

1) Apply all of the email best practices listed here.

2) On the confirmation page of your funnel (the page that someone goes to after entering their name and email address to receive your lead magnet or something else from you) you can remind them to whitelist your business email address (the email address you entered in the "From" email field). Plus, you could provide them with this helpful article on how to do so.

3) When sending emails to your list you can also use {{email.unsubscribe_link}} to insert your unsubscribe link. Instead of using your "user signature" custom value in the email builder, you can drag-and-drop the footer element to the bottom of the email template. This will automatically add the unsubscribe custom value.

4) Increase the font size of the unsubscribe hyperlinked text at the bottom of your email. Some people may have marked your email as spam simply because they couldn’t see the unsubscribe link.

5) Include a unsubscribe pre-header button at the top of your emails.

6) If you have a large 3,000+ list, you may want to consider using a email validation tool ( such as Neverbounce) to check you email list before a launch, so you don't send tons of emails to invalid email address. Or you may want to consider turning on "email validation" under Settings > Business Profile [ LC Mail ]. If you have Mailgun, email support@fgfunnels.com, to have "email validation" enabled for your subaccount.

7) Include fewer links in your emails. Ideally you would send a maximum of 3 links in any email. The link count includes the social media icon links.

8) Include fewer images. Nuno has a work around for the social media icons, in which he uses emojis. He mentions it, at the 24min mark on the live Q&A call recording HERE. Essentially, you can replace the social icons with emojis, then link the emojis to your social profiles.

9) This whole call recording HERE is worth watching from the beginning to the 25min mark, then skip to the 44:33min mark to the end. A lot of nuanced little things, which affect your emails landing in the inbox, and getting past spam filters, are covered in the video.

The higher the text-to-link, and the text-to-image ratios, the better. Too many links and images trigger spam flags with email service providers (ESPs).

10) Setup Email Authentication Records
