How to Migrate from the Legacy Membership area to the new Client Portal

Once you migrate to the Client Portal, you cannot convert back to the legacy membership area. Please ensure you are ready before proceeding.
ℹ️ Before You Migrate
We recommend completing these steps before migrating to the Client Portal:
1) Customize Your Client Portal Branding

2) Connect Your Membership Subdomain to the Client Portal
- If you currently have a subdomain (or domain) connected to the legacy membership area, you will need to redirect it to the new Client Portal. Tutorial: Client Portal | How to Connect Your Custom Domain / Subdomain
How to Migrate from the Legacy Membership Area to the New Client Portal
Note: If your domain's DNS records are managed inside of Cloudflare or GoDaddy, you can use the domain connect feature to connect the domain to your client portal. Steps:
- Go to Memberships in the left side menu.

- Hover over Courses and click on Settings at the bottom.

- This will take you to the Site Details section.

- Click on the text that says "Learn More" [[ It will be highlighted in yellow ]].

- Click the button that says "Next"

- Click on the "Migrate" button at the bottom of the pop-up.

Once the migration process is completed the page will look similar to this:

- What are the benefits of using client portal?
The client portal provides access to a wide range of features, including courses, communities, affiliates, and more, all within a single platform and using the same login credentials
- Will my users need to create a new account if I transition to the client portal?
No, they will not need to create a new account. The user can continue to use the legacy membership login credentials even inside the new client portal.
- Are all the features from the legacy memberships available in the new client portal?
Users can access all the features of legacy memberships in new client portal, additionally they will also have enhanced experience with the Kollab app and new features such as notifications.
- Will my domain/subdomain automatically migrate from the legacy membership area to the client portal?
No. A custom domain/subdomain that you connected to the legacy membership area will not transfer to the client portal automatically.

The traditional method of managing membership courses, known as legacy membership, provides learners with a platform to log in and access course materials. In contrast, the client portal offers a broader range of functionalities, including access to courses, communities, affiliate manger, as well as the ability to see any contracts or estimates you sent them.
