Learn Through A Funnel: Lead Funnel

The Learn Through A Funnel series is intended to guide you through the process of building out specific types of funnels. This is your roadmap through the steps in building. The roadmap is broken into phases and each phase has steps to complete the phase. The steps below cover the action items to be taken and lead to articles with more details on how to achieve each step.

In This Article:

Phase One: Lead Funnel Prep

The lead funnel prep steps are listed in the Learn Through A Funnel: Account Prep article. For the lead funnel, you do not need to integrate a payment processor if you haven't already.

There are no additional steps for prep beyond that article. Once you have completed all the steps in this article, you can move to Phase Two: Build Your Assets.

Phase Two: Build Your Assets

  • Create an opt in form (or duplicate an existing one) under Sites -> Forms -> Builder using any or all of the following fields. How to Create a Form
    • Email Address (set as required)
    • Name (set as required)
    • Phone (Optional - must have A2P brand/campaign set up and approved first)
    • Checkbox Consent (Optional - only required if collecting phone numbers)

  • Create a lead magnet to be delivered after someone opts in.
    • We suggest a PDF - get one of our matching Lead Magnet Templates in our shop! More FG Templates (including Lead Magnets)

Phase Three: Build Your Funnel

Phase Four: Build Your Automation

  • Upload lead magnet to Google Drive or Dropbox, or create landing page for video lead magnet and connect a domain to it - keep the link handy

  • Create a new workflow under Automation > Workflows
    • Customize the settings of the workflow, if needed and name your workflow with the name of your lead funnel and indicate that it is the delivery workflow.

  • Add a New Workflow Trigger -> Form Submitted. Trigger - Form Submitted
    • Add filter: Form is > Choose the opt-in form you added to the funnel. It is very important to add this filter so that the workflow only runs when this specific form is submitted.

  • Add the following workflow actions
    • Assign to User - assign the contact to the user whose variables you may use when sending to the contact (ex. User name, user signature, user email, etc). Action - Assign to User
    • Add Contact Tag - add a contact tag specific to them opting into that particular lead magnet (ex. opted in - lead magnet name), and we recommend a general opted in tag (ex. marketing OR newsletter OR opted in) How to Add/Remove Tags via a Workflow
    • Send Email - either connect an email template or write out your lead magnet delivery email directly within the workflow step. Use the link you created in Step 1 of Phase 3 within your email to deliver the download. Action - Send Email
  • Publish your workflow

  • Test your workflow - from the funnel itself (NOT using the test workflow button). How To Test An Opt-In Funnel

  • Once it's working, share the link to your new lead funnel everywhere!
