This learning path is based on the Coaching Formula Email Julie wrote a while back. For the purposes of FGF University, we'll give you the walkthrough for steps in that formula that involve FG Funnels.
After initial setup of of your FG Funnels account, you will learn how to:
- Set up an application funnel for your offer.
- Set up the automation for your application funnel.
- Set up a lead funnel for your free offer.
- Set up the automation for your lead funnel.

Step One: FG Funnels Step Up
A. Connect a Domain or Subdomain to Your Account for The Funnel to Live on
- If you want to connect a top level domain to your account, something like fgfunnels.com, use the FG Funnels Domain Setup Wizard.
OR
- If you want to connect a subdomain to your account and you purchased your domain outside of FG Funnels, use the article Setting Up a Subdomain for Funnels and Websites for Domains Purchased Outside of FG Funnels.
OR
- If you want to connect a subdomain to your account and you purchased your domain within FG Funnels, use the article, Setting Up A Subdomain for Funnels and Websites for Domains Purchased Within FG Funnels.
B. Set Up Your Email Service in Your Account
FG Funnels uses LC Email as the default email service. How to Set Up a Dedicated Sending Domain (LC Email).
OR
If you are a high volume sender (sending over 10k emails per month), you may want to set up MailGun as your email service provider, as LC Email charges per email sent. LC Mail Alternative: Setting Up Mailgun For Your Account
C. Connect Stripe to Your Account
- You will need to make sure your Stripe account is connected to receive payments. Connect Your Stripe Account
D. Set up Your Business and User Profiles
You will want to make sure that your business and user profiles are configured correctly before building your funnel as many custom values are pulled from these areas. Setting Up Your User Profile
E. Have an Unsubscribe Process Set Up and Verified to Be Working
- It is required that you give those who you are messaging the ability to unsubscribe with any marketing email. Therefore you need to make sure that your unsubscribe process is set up and working. How to Add an Unsubscribe Link to Your Emails
F. Integrate Your Google or Outlook Calendar
For your appointments to sync to your calendar, you must connect your Google or Outlook Calendar to your FGF account.
G. Connect Your Subdomain for Your Course Area/Client Portal.
- You must connect a subdomain for your course area/client portal so your clients can access any course material that you create.
Step Two: Application Funnel Build
Now that you've set up your FG Funnels account, it's time to set up the application funnel. This will include creating your calendars, forms, and your funnel. Jump right in with the steps below!
A. Create Your Forms
In this step, you will create an opt-in form for leads to sign up for your email list. You will also create an application form for potential clients to fill out when they are ready to work with you. Head here to learn How to Create a Form.
B. Create Your Calendar
If your clients meet with you 1:1, you will create a Personal Booking Calendar. If you have multiple coaches on your team, you'll create a Round-Robin Calendar, and the client can choose who they meet with.
C. Create a Three Page Funnel
In this step you will be building your three-page funnel that will include:
- A sales page with a Pop-up Opt-in. Learn how to create a pop-up on your funnel here.
- An application page. Use the 'form element' in the funnel builder to connect your application form.
- A calendar page. Use the 'calendar element' in the funnel builder to add your calendar to the calendar page.
Additional Steps for creating your funnel:
- Style the funnel with your copy & branding.
- Mobile optimize the funnel (make sure everything looks good & works on mobile view).
- Customize the SEO and general settings of the pages.
- Set the domains & URL paths for the funnel.
- Set a favicon for the funnel.
- Install any pixel or tracking codes in the header section of the funnel settings.

Step Three: Application Funnel Automation
Now it's time to create your pipeline and workflows for your funnel! See steps below:
A. Create a Pipeline & Stages
Head here to learn how to create a pipeline. Here are the stages you will need in your pipeline:
- Optin
- Application Received
- Call Booked
- Offer Accepted
- Follow Up
- Offer Not Accepted
After creating your pipeline, you will need to create tags for each stage in the pipeline. Here are the tags you need to create:
- Optin
- Application Received
- Call Booked
- Offer Accepted
- Follow Up
- Offer Not Accepted
B. Workflows
As a coach, you will need six workflows:
- Optin workflow - when popup gets submitted
- Application received workflow - notifies you
- Call booked workflow - appointment reminders
- Offer accepted workflow - new client
- Follow up workflow - emailing to close the deal
- Appt Reminders workflows - Generic
Here is how each workflow would look:
OPTIN WORKFLOW:
- Trigger = Form submission
- Filter form
- Action 1 = Assign User
- Action 2 = Add Contact Tag - Optin
- Action 3 = Update Pipeline Opportunity
- Stage = Optin
- Action 4 = Delay: Wait for Four Hours
- If/Else Condition
- Branch 1= Contact Details / Tag / Includes / Application Received / YES = Remove Optin Tag
- Branch 2 = NO
- Action 5 = Send Email About Filling Out Application
APPLICATION RECEIVED WORKFLOW:
- Trigger = Form submission
- Filter application
- Action 1 = Assign User
- Action 2 = Remove tag Optin
- Action 3 = Add Contact Tag - Application Received
- Action 4 = Update Pipeline Opportunity
- Stage = Application Received
- Action 5 = Send Notification To Yourself
- Action 6 = Delay: Wait for Four Hours
- If/Else Condition
- Branch 1= Contact Details / Tag / Includes / Call Booked / YES = Remove Application Received Tag
- Branch 2 = NO - Send a follow up email
CALL BOOKED WORKFLOW:
- Trigger = Customer Booked Appointment
- Filter in calendar - appointment
- Filter in appt status - confirmed
- Action 1 = Assign User
- Action 2 = Remove Contact Tag Optin & Application Received
- Action 3 = Add Contact Tag - Call Booked
- Action 4 = Update Pipeline Opportunity
- Stage = Call Booked
- Action 5 = Send Notification To Yourself
- Action 6 = Send Email
OFFER ACCEPTED WORKFLOW:
- Trigger = Pipeline Status Changed
- Filter stage - moving to offer accepted stage
- Action 1 = Assign User
- Action 2 = Remove Contact Tag Optin, App Received, and Call Booked
- Action 3 = Add Contact Tag - Offer Accepted
- Action 4= Send Welcome Email + Next Steps
- Action 5 = Send Contract (Must have contract template already created. Learn how to create a contract template here.)
FOLLOW UP WORKFLOW:
- Trigger = Pipeline Status Changed
- Filter in stage - follow up
- Action 1 = Assign User
- Action 2 = Remove Tag Optin, App Received, and Call Booked
- Action 3 = Add Contact Tag - Follow Up
- Action 4 = Send Email
- If/else condition
- Branch 1 = Contact Details / Tag / Includes / Call Booked or Offer Accepted / YES = Remove Follow Up tag
- Branch 2 = No - Send 2nd Email
